ESPN College GameDay coming to Wichita State

ESPN’s College GameDay crew is taking their talents to the Roundhouse for a 1 p.m. matchup between the Wichita State men’s basketball team and Northern Iowa on Feb. 28.

The team of Rece Davis, Jay Williams, Seth Greenberg and Jay Bilas will be warming up their bus and making the trip to Wichita.

ESPN College GameDay has been around since 2005 and is making its first trip to Charles Koch Arena for what might be the Missouri Valley Conference regular season championship on the line.

Wichita State (14-1 MVC) will play host to Northern Iowa (14-1 MVC) for sole possession of the Valley crown as long as both teams enter the game with identical records.

MEET THE CREW:

Host, Rece Davis

Rece Davis, graduate of the University of Alabama, was recently named the host for ESPN College GameDay for football.

Co-worker Jay Bilas said, “[Davis] is a great teammate. Nobody’s more prepared. Nobody’s more ready for anything. We could have a fire on the set and he would handle it without a problem, seamlessly.”

College Basketball Analyst, Jay Bilas

Jay Bilas, graduate of Duke University, is the self-proclaimed “King of Swag.” Bilas starts every morning with a tweet quoting a rap lyric and the phrase “I gotta go to work.”

Bilas is also an attorney at Moore and Van Allen, PLLC. College Basketball Analyst, Jay Williams

Jason “Jay” Williams is a graduate of Duke University and played from 1999-2002. Helping Duke win the 2001 NCAA National Championship, Williams earned the NABC Player of the Year award. The next season, Williams earned the Wooden Award and Naismith Award as college basketball’s Player of the Year in 2002. He was the second overall pick in the 2002 NBA draft.

This is Jay Williams first year as an analyst on ESPN’s College GameDay.
