How to find more food on campus
Students often are hustling to class, but there are several campus food options that can be accessed quickly.
Wichita State’s main campus offers an abundance of options. While in the library, there is the Book and Bean in the foyer. It offers drinks such as Gatorade, water and orange juice for a reasonable price. If students are hungry, they can buy sandwiches, pop-tarts, granola bars, muffins and other snacks.
Junior Brandon Moore said he enjoys the ease of stopping on campus between classes.
“Sometimes, I just don’t feel like driving all the way back to my apartment, so when in-between classes or study sessions, I stop in the library to grab something to eat,” he said.
Students near Hubbard Hall can go to Blimpie. Customers have the option of several different kinds of subs, with different bread combinations. Chips and a drink are also available. Blimpie usually costs no more than $6, depending on extras.
“Blimpie isn’t too far off from Subway, taste-wise,” senior Sam Jones said. “I enjoy it and love their cookies. I took the Men and Masculinities class in Hubbard Hall, so I would go there at least three days out of the week.”
The most popular place to get food on campus may be the Rhatigan Student Center. The RSC has Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, Chick-fil-A and Masala Asian Grill.
The RSC is often crowded with students looking for something to eat, so it can be crowded.
“I go to the RSC almost every day during the school year,” junior Frank Smith said. “I believe that’s why I probably gained so much weight — not that the food is bad, it’s just that I go there all the time. The majority of my daily money goes to the food in the RSC, especially Pizza Hut and Chick-fil-A.”
“I think that is so cool and convenient for all students that we get such great options to eat,” he said. “I’m glad I don’t have to drive 20 minutes out of my way to go get some Chick-fil-A, when I can just go to the RSC.”
Aside from all the other options available to the students on campus, there are also at least several soda and food vending machines in each building. If students don’t have cash on them, they can swipe their credit or debit cards.
