Kenyan Safari Acrobats come to WSU

The Kenyan Safari Acrobats may be more exotic than what Wichita State’s Student Activity Council usually brings to campus.

The group performs at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Campus Activities Center.

Dionte Xu helped bring the group to Wichita State and is hopeful about the performance.

“We hope to fill the CAC with guests who are excited to watch the Kenya Safari Acrobats perform as we [SAC] are to have them perform,” Xu said.

The acrobats learned and perfected their trade as children on the beaches of Kenya. They have performed across North America and parts of Asia. They have even performed at the White House, Six Flags, Disney and at the Super Bowl. The acrobats are world-renowned cultural ambassadors for Kenya.

So when the SAC heard that they were touring nearby in Oklahoma and other parts of Kansas, they jumped on the chance to have them perform at WSU.

“SAC is hoping to share a cultural experience with our audience,” Xu said. “All of the performers have come from a country stricken with poverty and yet they have persevered. Not only are they cultural ambassadors of Kenya, but they are also the perfect examples of how tenacity, determination, having a dream, and pursuing it can lead to success despite your circumstances.”

Tickets for the show are free with student I.D. and $10 for general admission.
