On April 1, 2022, the Red Hot Chili Peppers released their long-awaited album, “Unlimited Love” and no, it was not an April Fools Joke. 

The album includes the Chili Peppers’ latest singles, “Black Summer” and “Poster Child” along with their most recently released single “These are the Ways.”

To be completely honest, before the album was released, when I first heard “Black Summer,” it sounded very similar to  “Snow (Hey Oh)” from their 2005 album, “Stadium Arcadium.” 

But once I heard the rest of the album, I thought it was amazing. There is an eclectic mix of sounds on the album that sounds similar to their previous albums and some new material as well. 

 Songs like “Here Ever After,” “Poster Child,” and  “These are the Ways” had the same style as their previous 2016 album “Dark Necessities.”

The only difference between those three songs and the album itself is that the songs are a little bit slower and have more of a “grunge” sound to them compared to their previous work.

The Chili Peppers still have their surfer rock style going on with this album, that’s how they have always been and it will never change, but the album gives off the vibes of an MTV Unplugged session from the early ‘90s (in a good way), minus the live performance and live audience. 

Overall, this album was really well done, it’s more grunge-sounding than their previous albums,  but they combine it with their original style to make it a Red Hot Chili Peppers album.
