Men’s golf wins

another title

The Wichita State men’s golf team won the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate on Tuesday for its third team title in five fall tournaments.

The Shockers shot an 11-under 841 to finish nine shots ahead of second place UNLV. Both Kansas (5th) and Kansas State (11th) were in the 12-team field.

WSU’s Hunter Sparks led the Shockers with a 6-under 207 to finish in third place. Louis Cohen Boyer took fifth with a 4-under 209.

Boyer, a sophomore, is the only WSU golfer to have finished in the top 10 in each of the fall tournaments.

KU’s Chris Gilbert finished tied for first with UNLV’s Blake Biddle. Both golfers shot an 8-under 205.

The tournament wrapped up fall play for the Shockers. They will return in February with the UTSA Oak Hills Invitational.
