Breakfast attracts many to Fairmount

The smell of bacon and eggs wafted through the cafeteria of Fairmount Towers a little later, or earlier depending on how you look at it, than normal last Thursday night. Students from all over campus flocked to the dining hall for a chance at a late night breakfast sponsored by the Student Activities Council.

The menu included what you would expect to find on a typical breakfast buffet. Delicious scrambled eggs, warm waffles, and freshly made fruit smoothies were just a few of the items available.

“The food’s great,” said freshman Jenna Garcia as she stands around, nibbling from her plate. “I just wish there was somewhere to sit down.”

Not only was every seat in the dining hall packed, the lines were extending out past the doors at one point. An estimated 500+ students attended the event. Even with three different buffet lines, the faculty was having a hard time keeping up. But in the end everyone in line had received a plate.

“I live off campus, but I still wanted to come out and get some breakfast,” said junior Steve Abplanalp. “This is the first time I’ve actually eaten here and I got to say it’s pretty good. Not like the school food I was expecting.”
