Baseball announces Fall World Series dates
Nothing says fall quite like baseball—at least at Wichita State.
The Fall World Series, the annual seven-game scrimmage between members of the WSU baseball team, will get underway on Saturday, Sept. 29.
The team will be divided into two squads, the Black and the Gold, with the actual rosters to be announced at a later date.
Assistant coach Jim Thomas, who is entering his 21st year with WSU, will coach one team. Third year volunteer assistant Brandon Hall will coach the other team.
Head coach Gene Stephenson is usually found in the press box watching while the players compete on the field below.
Admission to the games is free and open to the public, although it is asked that people bring a can of food to donate to the Kansas Food Bank.
The Shockers finished with a 35-25 record last season, going 12-9 in the Missouri Valley Conference.
Fall practice begins on Sept. 3, with the regular season beginning in February.
