A letter from your SGA president

August 5, 2013

Fellow Shockers,

I would love to welcome everyone back in what is sure to be a great school year. For those that are new, welcome to the Shocker family. My name is Luis Carbajal and I am your student body president. If I have not met you, feel free to stop by my office in room 202 of the Rhatigan Student Center.

Over the summer, Student Government Association has been working hard and is excited for the opportunities this school year brings. You can expect to see many changes and I encourage you to participate in any and all activities that we work to bring to you including SGA sponsored athletic nights and a concert that I hope will be to your liking.

One of the most important things we have done is the revitalization of our journal, which is the document with our bylaws and guidelines. This is important to you because of the funding opportunity SGA offers. For those that are unaware, SGA offers funding to both organizations and students and we encourage everyone to stop by and look at the guidelines. We have been able to cut much of the red tape, making the funding process easier with increased limits on amounts allocated to students along the way.

I would like to make it clear that I would love to hear from the students this year. Please stop by my office or email me any feedback, ideas, or general comments you may have. Again, my office is located inside the RSC in room 202 and my email address is [email protected]. We are here to serve you and can only improve with your help and feedback. SGA offers many resources to students and I invite you to come find out in which ways we may be helpful to you.

I hope you enjoy what we have planned for the upcoming year and wish you all the best of luck with your endeavors.

Luis Carbajal

Student Body President
