Sophomore guard C.J. Keyser and redshirt-sophomore center Brett Barney announced on Tuesday that they will be transferring from Wichita State.

KWCH’s Will Kunkel has also reported that junior guard Kaelen Malone will also be transferring, but Malone has not made an official statement.

Keyser announced he will be leaving Wichita State Tuesday afternoon via Twitter. He stated:

“I would like to thank Coach Marshall and the entire coaching staff at Wichita State and the fans of shocker nation for all they have done for me, but at this point I have decided to look at other opportunities to further my academic and basketball career.”

In the 2017-18 season, Keyser played in 18 games averaging 7.1 minutes and 1.7 points per game.

In a statement made via Twitter on Tuesday morning, Barney said:

“I want to start out by saying thank you to Wichita State and Coach Marshall for the opportunity to be a part of Wichita State. I have had an amazing 3 years of basketball and it has been a childhood dream of mine to be a Shocker basketball player. I appreciate all of the coaches and brothers that I have met during my time here. I have decided to transfer for the upcoming season and finish my playing career somewhere else. I want to thank all the fans and people that have supported me along the way. You guys are the greatest fans in the country! Thank you for a wonderful opportunity, Wichita.”

Barney has been on the team for three seasons, after coming from Sunrise Christian Academy.

He is a one-time WSU Varsity Letterman and has made the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll four times.

Barney played in six games in the 2017-18 season, averaging 2.3 minutes and 1.7 points per game while having a .714 field goal percentage.

Malone played in seven games for the 2017-18 season and averaged four minutes per game.
