Wichita State pitching coach Mike Steele has resigned nearly six weeks ahead of the start of the season.

Head Coach Todd Butler made the announcement on Thursday.

“We will begin a search for the next Shocker pitching coach immediately,” Butler said.

Steele held the position for two seasons. He replaced Brent Kemnitz, who held the position for more than 30 years.
