Flirting through Twitter

While there is still plenty of time for planning for Valentine’s Day, it might be wise to start developing something special for the object of your affections.

There are the traditional methods of wooing, such as dinner dates, roses and chocolates, but anonymous Twitter confessions are gaining popularity around campus.

@WSUCrushess is an anonymous Twitter account to allow students to flirt anonymously and virtually. The account has 239 Tweets and 676 followers. The mysterious source behind the account could not be contacted, but some examples of recently relayed messages include:

“Hey@bshaw166 I’ll be Burger King & you’ll be McDonalds. I’ll have it my way & you’ll be loving it”

“That @SpeedUpReed can teach me how to run around a track any day”

“@leenamarie3 smells like chicken pot pie #Hot”

James Deckard, a senior, said there’s a real demand for this kind of thing, even though these accounts often get shut down.

“I’m sure a lot of people have been offended,” Deckard said. “But it’s just a silly way to make someone smile.”

So while you’re waiting for the days to get warmer again, remember you can always warm someone’s heart by messaging @WSUCrushess.
