Lady Shockers rise above the Phoenix for sixth straight victory

The Lady Shockers, riding a five game win streak, traveled into the Kress Events Center, Sunday afternoon to take on Wisconsin-Green Bay.

Junior guard Jamillah Bonner scored 16 points, junior forward  Alex Harden added 15, and senior Michelle Price added 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Shockers sixth straight victory 63-58.

In a nip and tuck game, the Phoenix scored the first three points of the game to go up 3-0.

Harden responded with a three pointer to tie the score 3-3 early in the game for the Shockers’ first points.

The Phoenix would go on a six to zero run, to go up eight 21-13 at the 9:22 mark, but the Lady Shockers will battle back to lead 31-30 at halftime.

The Lady Shockers ran out to a six point lead early in the second half  thanks to an Harden layup.

With two minutes left in the game, the Phoenix cut the Shockers’ lead to one when Bonner hit a jump shot to stop the Phoenix run. The Lady Shockers would go on to win in a hard fought victory 63-58.

The Shockers are looking to remain undefeated at home on the season, as the Lady Shockers return to the friendly confines of Charles Koch Arena for the Shocker Winter Classic  for back to back games on Dec. 21-22.
