Learn about black holes at the public observatory
The Lake Afton Public Observatory will present the program “Black Holes in Space” Friday and Saturday evenings. The program will explain how astronomers learn about black holes. Attendees will observe Saturn, a multiple star system, a cluster of stars that contains a massive black hole, a supergiant red star that will likely become a black hole when it dies, and more.
The program costs $5 for adults and $3 for children ages 6-12. It is sponsored by the Fairmount Center for Science and Mathematics Education. The observatory is located in Lake Afton County Park.

Business workshops to be held next week
The Kansas Small Business Development Center will sponsor a workshop on blogging 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, August 7 at the Hughes Metropolitan Complex. The workshop aims to teach participants how to use a blog to market, generate leads and increase sales conversions.
A second workshop focusing on effective email marketing will begin at 3 p.m. This workshop will provide information on creating and implementing successful email campaigns.

Sunflower Survival Guide hits stands next week
The Sunflower’s annual back-to-school guide will be published Monday, August 5. This issue serves as an introduction to Wichita State and the new school year, covering everything from student organizations to Shocker athletics and more.
The Sunflower will then resume its normal publication schedule Wednesday, August 21, publishing Wednesday, Monday and Thursday every week. Look for the paper in stands around campus or visit the www.thesunflower.com.
