Financial Literacy Project to aid students

The Office for Faculty Development and Student Success is offering a program online to help students learn to manage their finances while in college.

“If you know how much it costs each year and you know you have the financial resources to meet the cost, stress down, confidence up,” Tim Hagan, Financial Literacy Project coordinator, said.

MyCollegeMoneyPlan.org is a course that comes in two parts. Students can log on using Facebook or create a different username and password.

Part one of the program will cover the individual’s personal college financial plan.

“We think every college student in the U.S., that includes WSU, needs to take ownership of how much does this place cost and how is it getting paid for,” Hagan said.

Part two will guide students through learning about financial independence.

“You can pick and choose the modules you want to use,” said Financial Literacy Project Assistant Coordinator Gretchen Holtaus.

“Everything’s free—there are no ads, there are no pop-ups. We are funded by a federal grant,” Hagan said.

The Financial Literacy office is located on the third floor of McKinley Hall in room 330.
