Wichita State plays KU April 18, 2018 at Eck Stadium.

The Shockers won their second matchup against the Jayhawks on Tuesday, leaving with a 14-5 win. WSU is now 27-12 this season and 7-8 on the road, while KU sits at 19-21 overall.

Sophomore pitcher Preston Snavely pitch six innings and senior Adam Keller pitched one and recorded three strikeouts in the bottom of the seventh.

The Shockers put up their first run in the third after junior Jordan Boyer singled through the left side. Then Boyer scored when junior Travis Young, who was 4-for-5, doubled to right center field.

In the bottom of the third with one out, Jaxx Groshans hit a foul ball into the far right side, but Boyer was able to make the sliding catch for the second out.

In the fifth the Shockers put up two more runs. Junior Luke Ritter, who was 3-for-5 and led the team with five RBI, homered out of left center field with two RBI and sent Young home, putting WSU ahead 3-2.

Later in the top of the sixth, the Shockers brought home four more runs. Boyer flied out to right field on a sacrifice fly, but sent senior Trey Vickers home. Then Young doubled again to left field with an RBI for sophomore Noah Croft to run home.

While Ritter was at bat, junior Greyson Jenista stole second and Young stole third. Then Ritter singled up the middle with two RBI, took second on the throw and sent Young and Jenista home.

In the bottom of the sixth, it almost looked as if KU would have a home run. Devin Foyle hit towards right field but just as it was passing over the wall, junior Josh DeBacker reached over the wall for a saving catch and the first out.

Moments later in the seventh, WSU scored again after Croft singled up the middle for Vickers to put up another run.

In the top of the eighth, the Shockers drove home six more runs. Ritter doubled to left center field for Jenista to score. Then senior Gunnar Troutwine singled to center field and Ritter scored.

Junior Alec Bohm brought home another run when sophomore Alex Jackson singled through the right side, and Troutwine ran home after Vickers also singled through the right side.

The Shockers weren’t finished for that inning and put up another two runs. Young singled through the left side for Jackson to score and then Jenista reached on a fielder’s choice, but Vickers ran home.

KU scored three more runs that inning including a double with two RBI, but the Shockers were up 14-5 and later left with a win.
