Shockers prepare for upcoming Creighton match
After defeating the University of Central Oklahoma Bronchos 68-61, the women’s basketball team is ready for its next challenge against the Creighton Bluejays.
“The score is what the score is,” head coach Jody Adams said of the UCO game Saturday. “Could we have gotten beaten, sure — we didn’t execute and didn’t adjust, but we did execute in the fourth quarter when the game was on the line and we were down.”
In the team’s previous game against UCO, freshman Jyar Francis led the team with 21 points and six rebounds, followed by sophomore Diamond Lockhart with 20 points, four rebounds and two steals.
Overall, the Shockers out-rebounded UCO 33-29 and out-shot UCO 47 percent (22-for-47) to 44 percent (24-for-54).
“I have to give our group credit for maintaining their composure and being coachable,” Adams said.
The Bluejays have yet to play this season but are coming into the season after finishing fifth in the Big East conference with a 9-5 home record. The Shockers have a 24-32 record against Creighton.
The Shockers take on Creighton at 12:05 p.m. Friday in Omaha.
