No. 11 WSU dominates Northwood in exhibition
In an overwhelmingly one-sided 112-55 victory, the Shockers showcased their depth with a mixture of highly touted veterans and several newcomers during a pre-season exhibition game against Northwood (Fla.) University.
Ron Baker led Wichita State with 22 points — 17 in the first half. Ria’n Holland scored 16 points off the bench, making 6 of 7 shots and all four of his three-pointers. The Shockers made 13 of 24 threes and forced 21 turnovers.
Despite scoring efficiently on offense, 25 total assists on 38 shots, the Shockers finished with 10 turnovers, albeit three of the 10 came in the second half when the newcomers were given most of the minutes.
The reserves more than held their own, combining for 11 assists and five turnovers on defense.
The Shockers begin their regular season against New Mexico State at 8 p.m. on Nov. 18 at Charles Koch Arena.
