Panthers pummeled in Cedar Falls

Shockers extend their win streak to 25 now with the 82-73 win over UNI in Cedar Falls, IA. 

The Shockers were led by Tekele Cotton with 18 points and Cleanthony Early with 16 points in the first half.

Fred VanVleet and Chadrack Lufile led the teams with seven rebounds each.  Ron Baker had seven assists.

Wichita State ignited quickly after a 3-pointer by Cleanthony Early. Tekele Cotton scored a 3-pointer, and the Panthers answered with a run that brought the score to 6-8 UNI.

With 14:22 left in the first half, Cleanthony Early made a layup to bring the score to 13-10 in favor of the Shockers.

Darius Carter silenced the crowd with an amazing dunk off the inbound with 12:16 left.

At 11:10 left, Nick Wiggins had a fantastic put back layup off a missed jump shot to extend the lead to 19-17.

Cleanthony Early dialed in a 3-pointer from deep with 7:13 left in the half and a 26-20 lead.

UNI then answered with a basket and VanVleet made a double clutch layup with 3:06 left.

Headed into the half, the Shockers led 44-37 with Cleanthony Early leading all scorers with 16 in 14 minutes.

The Panthers from UNI came out firing in the second half within the first two seconds, and Ron Baker hit two free throws to slow their run.

Fred VanVleet answered with a layup, and Darius Carter added another with 15:28 left in the game.

They went on a 12-1 run with 14:17 left in the game to bring the lead to 56-44.

The Shockers then went on to extend the lead to 60-46 with 10:12 left in the game.

Tekele Cotton then put the dagger in the Panthers with 4:39 left in the second half, extending the lead to 72-58.
