Advice from the upper classmen
So, it’s freshman year again.
But being a freshman this year isn’t going to be anything like that first day in high school all those years ago. Gone are the days of depending on the adults in your life to make sure you get to class or do your homework— that’s on you now and let’s just say it is going to be more than a little tempting to ditch class and party all night, but doing so will get you a one way ticket out the door. Luckily some of WSU’s upperclassmen have decided to share their tips and tricks for balancing your responsibilities with your new found freedom.
“Remember college is more than just one big party. It is a learning experience. You learn about ideas, people, life, and most importantly…yourself. Don’t forget why you are here!”
– Alumna Cricket Garancosky
“Come to class early. Not only will it ensure you find a parking spot in time, but it’ll keep you from getting stuck behind the smelly guy in class.”
– Sophomore Philly McGregor
“Remember that you can always change your major, but if you don’t love what you do, you won’t go far in that field.”
– Senior Micah Miller
“Research your professors, both online and by asking other students. This will help you determine if the class is going to be the right fit for you. A great class can always be ruined by a horrible teacher just like a horrible class can be bettered by a great teacher.”
– Alumna Leila Jabara
