Women’s basketball defeats Missouri State

The WSU women’s basketball team beat the Missouri State Bears 69-50 Sunday afternoon.

The game was back and forth in the first half and WSU senior guard Alex Harden provided crucial points.

Missouri State held a 24-17 lead midway through the first half. WSU clawed back to take a 29-28 lead going into the half.

Although the Bears were in the game for the first 10 minutes of the half, WSU began to pull away. The second half was Wichita State’s.

Jamillah Bonner (18 points), Allie Decker (15) and Harden (16) controlled the game.

It was a tough fight for the Shockers, but they pulled away at the end and gained another win in the Missouri Valley Conference.

The Shockers are now 18-4 overall and share the lead for the MVC at 9-1.

“I was very proud of how the team played in the second half, making adjustments and making a change and how we finished the last 20 minutes,” WSU head coach Jody Adams said after the game
