WSU lands commitment from Gus Okafor
Southeastern Louisiana transfer Gus Okafor has committed to Wichita State, on Wednesday during an announcement on his social media platforms.
The 6-foot-6 guard averaged 14.6 points and 6.4 rebounds per game last season, while also earning All-Southland first team honors. Okafor also shot 42% from the field during the 2021-22 season.
Okafor has averaged double figure scoring in the past two seasons and averaged 12.4 points per game during his sophomore season. He’s also shot above 30% on three-pointers during those two seasons.
The Shockers now have four scholarships left for the 2022-23 season, following Okafor’s commitment and Craig Porter Jr.’s return from the transfer portal last night. Okafor is the fourth Divison-I transfer that WSU has landed this offseason, joining Quincy Ballard, Xavier Bell and James Rojas.
