The Shocker baseball team played UMass on March 26 at Eck Stadium and won with a score of 14 to 2 in the last game of the series with UMass on May 31.

WSU Athletics announced Tuesday morning that they are looking for a new head baseball coach.

This comes after Loren Hibbs, interim head coach, was named the American Athletic Conference coach of the year, leading the Shockers to their best finish since joining the conference in 2018.

The athletic department recognized that Hibbs did not come back to Wichita State with the intention to coach, but they thanked him and his coaching staff for their “willingness to step forward on short notice, providing invaluable experience and leadership during a time of transition.”

Hibbs was named interim head coach after former head coach Eric Wedge parted with the university in December.

The athletic department has not announced a timeline on its coaching search.
