Wichita State men’s basketball finalized its roster on Wednesday afternoon by adding a junior point guard.
Mike Gray Jr. announced his commitment from Nicholls State in Louisiana to Wichita State via a post on his personal Instagram.
Gray, who stands at 6-foot-2, is a scoring threat from the guard position. He averaged 11.1 points per game last year on 43% shooting from the field and 41% from the 3-point line.
He knocked down 63 deep shots, which would have nearly doubled the highest mark of any WSU player last year. 63% (154-246) of his shots were from beyond the arc.
Gray started 11 games for the Colonels, primarily being used as an off-the-bench scorer. He had a stretch in February when he scored 19 or more points in six consecutive games.
He was named a Southland Conference Player of the Week in December after averaging 16.5 points on 56.3% field goal shooting and 50% shooting beyond the arc in a pair of wins for Nicholls.
Gray is not an excellent distributor. He finished last season with more turnovers (22) than assists (20) and pulled down 2.8 rebounds per game. In his first season in Louisiana, Gray scored just 6.2 points per game and shot 30% from three.
Gray played his first season of college ball at George Mason and is a Fredericksburg, Virginia, native.
With Gray’s addition, WSU’s 2025-26 roster looks complete at 15 players. Head coach Paul Mills added eight players in the transfer portal. Just three players will return from last year’s roster.
