Man shot at Fairmount Park early Saturday morning, Wichita police say

Fairmount Park is located just south of Wichita State’s campus, across 17th Street.

Police say a man was shot at Fairmount Park early Saturday morning, which is just south of Wichita State’s campus across 17th Street.

At around 3 a.m. Wichita police officers arrived to Fairmount Park where they found multiple shell casings.

Nearly 10 minutes later, police say a 24-year-old man arrived at an area hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg. Wichita police believe the man was shot at Fairmount Park.

Wichita Police Department’s Public Information Officer Charley Davidson said the incident was not random and the man who was shot is not cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
