Shocker men’s golf ties for third

The Wichita State men’s golf team finished the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate on Tuesday tied for third place among 14 teams present in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Junior Grant Bennett finished the first day of the tournament tied for second and finished the tournament even with par (69-71-71), which secured a third place tie, Bennett’s fourth top 10 place of the season and the 13th of his career.

Freshman Adrien Michellod came out of day one tied for 40th place, but worked his way up to 16th after shooting a 69 in his final round. This brought Heinen’s score of 219 to six-over par, earning him the first top 20 finish of his green career.

Tying with Michellod was Shocker sophomore Conrad Walcher (73-73-73-219). Walcher’s score is a personal season-best and it is his first top 20 finish of the season.

The Shockers final team score was 291-295-289 for an overall total of 875.

The Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate marks the end of the fall season for the Shockers. The season brought no finishes lower than fourth for the team.
