Cheyanne Tull is a first year reporter, photographer and illustrator for The Sunflower. Tull is a freshman fine arts major studying Graphic Design and photography. She is from Conway Springs, KS. She hopes to work freelance for outdoor magazines / news sources combining creativity,nature and rock climbing. Tull previously worked on her school's yearbook for two years. Tull uses she/her pronouns.

People of all ages joined together in Henrion Hall on Sept. 9 to make bowls for the empty bowls project and ICT community fridge project. All bowls made at the event will be at the upcoming chili cook off that will supply food to the homeless in Wichita.

At the Wednesdays are for Women event in the RSC on Sept. 6, different tables had topics for the groups sitting there to dicuss before an overall sharing took place. These topics were around networking, connecting women on campus, and how to make Wichita State a more empowering place for women to connect.

The top three finishers stand to be recognized at the JK Gold Classic meet. Lucy Ndungu finished in first with a time of 17:42.5, Sarah Bertry finished in second with a time of 18:02.2, and Lubna Aldulaimi finished in third with a time of 18:04.4.

After the showing of “The Silent Cries of Unborn Ghetto Children,” four panelists answered questions related to the issues and concerns brought up in the documentary. The four panelists were senior animation major Nalah Stokes, Friends University graduate and licensed therapist, Gabrielle Jones, survivor, educator, and first Black woman to serve as vice mayor for the city of Wichita, Lavonta Williams, and survivor and long time Wichita resident Victor Daniels.

Film explores racial tensions, trauma surrounding 1965 plane crash

Ricardo Harris, pastor and director of the film, asks questions to the four people on the panel discussion after the film. Harris and two others, Kevin Harrison and Kenneth Hawkins, produced the film in about seven months and its first showing was at the memorial site in the park where the plane crashed.

Debbie Gordon, associate professor in the department of Womens Ethnicity and Intersection studies, asks the panel a question on the compensation of the Black community after the event. I was fascinated because I had never heard about this particular crash, Gordon said. I had heard about the WSU football team plane crash, and I started thinking about why did I know about one but not the other.

Several Wichita State students and Wichita citizens take part in the boating events put on by the Shocker Rowing team at their Smores and Oars event. Paddle boards, paddle boats, team boats, and kayacks were provided to get people on the water in downtown Wichita and see what Shocker Rowing is all about.
